The iTero scanner is a piece of dental equipment that allows dental professionals to capture enhanced digital images of a patient’s mouth. Our dentists can explain how it also helps you get the most out of your Invisalign treatment.
iTero is an intraoral scanner with a wand that a dentist moves around a patient’s mouth to capture pictures and create 3-D dental images in minutes. The small wand can scan hard-to-reach molars at the back of the mouth. The scans are more detailed than traditional 2-D images and are displayed on screen in real time. Intraoral digital scans help dentists create accurate dental models for restorative work like crowns and implants, and help diagnose orthodontic issues and develop treatment plans.
iTero intraoral scanners are compatible with the Invisalign system and help your dentist plan your treatment. Your dentist can send the scans to Invisalign so your custom clear aligners can be made, and can use them with the Invisalign Outcome Simulator to show you a simulation of how your treatment is planned to look at the end.
Your dentist can create Invisalign treatment plans using the iTero intraoral scanner — without the goopy mess of traditional impressions. Regular scans throughout your treatment help your dentist track your progress against the plan and explain any recommended adjustments.
